For these tasks you will have to go to page twelve and 13 in your book.

First of all, think about this:

"Exams have been a tool to assess students in different subjects. They have been an unquestionable way to determine students' progress and their acquisition of knowledge. However, many experts are now questioning the use of exams in modern education and the limitations that this form of assessment might have."

Now, let's do the reading in page 12. As you complete the reading take out 10 keywords and 5 key expressions. With the 10 words determine which part of speech are them. Then, using the keywords and the 5 key expressions make a summary of the reading.

Once you finish complete exercise 2 as well.

Post all the answers of the task as a comment below.

Have you ever stopped to consider how stressful school life is becoming because of tests? The author starts with this question to introduce the topic that exams are not the only way to evaluate ability and it is a good way to learn because if kids study only to pass a test they forget all in a short time and also they can not develop their creativity. Besides, according to educationalist Ken Robinson, if you are not prepared to be wrong, you will never come up with anything original. Also, Robinson belives we should try to develop learning environments where they are encouraged to be creative and discover things for themselves. For this reason the educational systems have to change the method how teachers evaluate students to improve creativity and students have different ways to learn and more opportunities in the future even thought when people are looking for job.

--Review of: "relationship between testing and creativity"
The lecture is about the actual model of education, this model is based en tests that sometimes can't reflect the real needs of the students in his education. It is incorrect to say that a person doesn't know about a specific topic only based in the result of a test. Of course sometimes the test are necessary but most of the time this tests can not encourage the creativity.

    Verbs: encourages, manage, enjoyed, study
    Nouns: parents, exam, kids, model
    Adjetives: brilliant, creative

    Summary:

This reading talks about exams, how we suppose that are the only way to educate kids and how stressful they may become. The reading continues stating how exams force our brain to process loads of information and to expulse it later, usually giving only one correct answer. The problems is that this method discourages the creativity of the childs. Many people may feel discouraged because they fail an exam, but there are many people though have failed many exams, have been very successful due to their creativity. However the exams are indeed important to test people knowledge, but education should encourage people by discovering their abilities.

  5. Key Word: kids - test - study - education - model - stop - success - try - creativity - encourage.

    Summary:

The text explains how the actual education model, based on exams and tests, discourages the creativity of students. Spending hours studying, squeezing information in our brains the night before a test and the privation of any amusement activity to kids when exams are near, are proof of how this system is changing our vision of what learning is. According to Ken Robinson we'll never come up with original things if we're not prepared to fail; but failing is the worst you can do in this educational model. As we don´t know what kids will need in the future, we should encourage them to be creative and discover things for themselves. Despite of exams are caging people, they are also a necessary assesment tool for some professions; so, we have to implement a balance between testing and encouraging creativity in education methods.

    Summary
Nowadays, society is doing of our schools and high schools, places where young people go to suffer. There are many ways, in which people suffer in schools. Some of them are tests and exams. When you are young, your life is determined by the acceptance of your classmates, teachers and your parents. The actual education system is based in test and exams’ grades. It does not take in account if you made an effort, or if you had some difficulties. Just matter the grade that you get in an exam. This education system is forcing our students to spend a lot of time, memorizing texts, information and many other things.
The problem is not to memorize all that information, the problem is that probably after exams time students will probably forget all that stuff. Also, another problem is that in exams, teachers cannot ask all the things that you probably study, so if a student fails, it does not means that he or she does not study, it probably is because in the test does not appeared the most important things that the student have to know.
In that way, people wanted to have good grades. Just to have a degree, but it is not because they want to learn. That’s why many people are frustrated, because they are learning things that they should not learn. Also, people are losing the ability to create things by their own.
